Deer safety:

While deer themselves are usually not aggressive and would rather run away from you than attack, they are involved in 80% of wildlife collisions, which affect both the driver and the deer. Male deer can weigh up to 110kg and be 1m tall, and no car is going to feel that. Between the more red and brown colours in dark conditions, they are very hard to see. It is crucial when driving in the dark to reduce your speed and use your headlights to look for oncoming vehicles. Be extra careful near rivers and forests, where deer are more common, and in ditches where you cannot see them. Finally, wear a seatbelt, and when you think you’re going to hit one, keep driving straight and slow down. Do not swirl, as this may introduce additional factors, such as sliding.
